I bought this camera for my wife, she has a Fuji 7000 and a Kodak Digital sorry I don’t remember the model it’s a good camera but a few years old. Anyway she and I are “Seniors” 65+ She has difficultly with complex menus. Out of the box she was taking good pictures, and enjoying all the (well some) of the features . Now she is reading the manual. Her comment last night was “I’ll never use all the things this camera has.” So, bottom line, great gift she likes it and is using it over her more expensive Fuji .
I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700, which is an excellent camera. I am a photography enthusiast I had one of my photos (taken with the 8700) selected by a TV station and have had a few selected for publishing in a local pamphlet. After my wife’s experience and my using her S230 I’ve ordered one for myself. Besides it’s a Nikon.

Don’t buy it! - Dan@Peru - Lima, Peru
when I saw this item, S230; I thought it was like S225 but with touchscreen. It turned out to be similar to S220, which is together with this one a waste of money. Pictures taken are usually blur, or have lots of back-light dots. Auto mode is really crappy :S:S:S totally dissatisfied with it. Thought for being a Nikon it’d have been a better product. Couldn’t be more wrong. For less price I can get a Casio that does much better with less money. So.. no…. it’s not good.
Ok, but not for the price - Kroy Rowe - Salt Lake City, UT
I bought this camera because our old GE was lost on our last trip. I saw the ad for it, and thought the touch screen was pretty cool! I am taking it back as SOON as the Christmas mall rush is over. It is small, which is good for some, and bad for others. It was ok at first, but it is just too small to hold on to to take the picture. That is MINOR and I could live with it. The thing I can’t is the blurry pictures! My old camera, a GE A730 took the best pictures! My kids could be running and if I took the picture, it was clear as a bell. With this camera, every picture I took of my child opening a present was blurry. If there is ANY movement at all, it is blurry. I read all the reviews about changing the ISO, or using the correct setting for the picture you are taking, but nothing helped. I even used the sport setting, figuring of COURSE that would be a setting that could compensate for motion, and it did a LITTLE better, but not much. With 4 active kids, there is no way this camera will work for me! Again, all the research I did about reading the manual, or changing the setting didn’t work at all! I am on the computer right now trying to find my old GE A730 to buy again….now THAT is a great camera!

This camera stinks, aweful pics. Also its hard to hold on to. Sucks, buy a canon.
